La gravité de la FA est liée au risque thromboembolique (TE) et au risque d'insuffisance cardiaque qui est fonction de la cardiopathie sous-jacente. Scipione CARERJ: ESC Guidelines 2016 on Atrial Fibrillation

1 INTRODUCTION. Atrial fibrillation (AF) was discovered more than 100 years ago. 1 It is currently recognized as the most prevalent cardiac arrhythmia and is associated with substantial complications and healthcare costs. The importance of clinical AF to all physicians has emerged during the last decade. 2, 3 Recently, the Global Burden of Disease study has demonstrated a prevalence of 33.5. Both authors have been members of the task force writing committee for the 2016 ESC/EACTS guidelines on the management of atrial fibrillation. You do not have access to this article. Please ask your librarian or administrator to contact chinajournals@sagepub.co.uk for subscriptions or further information Heart failure (HF) and atrial fibrillation (AF) often coexist, but data on the prognostic value of differing ablation strategies according to left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) are rare. From January 2007 until January 2010, 728 patients with HF were enrolled in the multi-center German ablation registry prior to AF catheter ablation Atrial fibrillation increases with age: it affects 1 out of 1000 people less than 55 years, but atrial fibrillation affects 1 in 10 people older than 80 years of age. Atrial fibrillation is commonly known as AFIB or AF. Atrial fibrillation is much more common in older people, those with high blood pressure and those with heart conditions including coronary artery disease, heart valve problems.
